“AKAI MFC42 Analog Filter Module with KIT-MFC and MFC-SN1

The unit is in excellent condition with cosmetic or operational flaws. It’s a very functional and great sounding analog filter/LFO/effects unit if you take the time to learn it and it can be controlled with MIDI. I am including the full original manual for reference which is in English, French, German, and Japanese. The MFC42 comes with regular rack ears and and screws so you can install into your preexisting unit.

Also included is the MFC42 Mounting Kit (KIT-MFC) for MPC2000/MPC2000XL. Included will be the brackets and screws you need to mount the MFC-42 and the original instructions for doing so. Please see pictures 9-12 to get a sense of what the unit looks like installed (note: the MPC2000XL is not included in this auction.

In addition to the rack ears and KIT-MFC I am including the official Akai MFC-SN1 Audio/MIDI Cable which allows you to connect the audio I/O of the MFC42 to the MPC2000/XL. “AKAI MFC42 Analog Filter Rack Module Excellent for sampling through low/high pass filters. Even has a RCA input with phono preamp built in so you can sample straight from a turntable. This is the perfect companion to a MPC2000XL, but can process input from any source. You can record live filter sweeps as a midi track on your sampler and play the sweeps back on the MFC42. Also great for running digital sound through just to get a little warmth from the analog circuitry.

“I am selling this wonderful Akai MFC 42 filter, phase shifter, distortion, envelope or LFO controlled filter module. Works perfectly, looks very good, see pictures. No rack ears unfortunately, bought it without. The module sounds amazing, very fat, crisp and broad filter sounds. You can use it on almost anything, not only as a filter but also just for distortion or phasing. Midi control is simple and tight. Also usable without midi by using the tap button or the lfo. Great for DJs as an external effect. In the studio you can run through almost anything, pads, drums, vocals, percussion, guitars or samples. Love the module. Comes with original manual. “This is as good as it gets for this discontinued filter module as this is in “as new” condition with only a few hours of use in checking for full functionality when I first bought it and now again for this listing. Never been racked. Completely clean cosmetically and functionally – effectively “shop new”. Bought new over 12 years ago at the end of the production run then safely stored away at home and almost forgotten about until now. Comes in original box and packing with the barely opened, equally pristine multi-lingual manual and IEC mains plug.

I can no longer justify keeping it having now moved into the depths of Eurorack. However, this has comprehensive sequencer record/playback MIDI CC numbers (for nearly all knobs and buttons) and I may still regret parting with it for this alone. Filters are great in all modes, I got quite immersed with phase shifted/LFO modulated notch filter interactions during the function tests… very nice! This has been MIDI checked as well… all good.

Build quality is also very good with a metal chassis and an easily adjustable voltage selector on the rear panel.”

“My Akai MFC 42 Analogue Filter Module. Ridiculously good sounding filter rack. I’ve had this since new. Bought from Turnkey (Soho Sound House) on Charing cross Rd.

This has the rack ears as you can see. Everything is good at the back just didn’t want to unrack for the picture. You can see the back online 🙂
