“Akai S612 12-Bit Sampler

I’ve been eBaying a lot of my music equipment recently. Mostly without too much pain. But I love this sampler, and it feels a little hard to let it go.

I haven’t used it much in the last few years though. And I’ve recorded hours and hours of ideas I had with it, so I can always go back and dip into some of it’s weirdness should I need some.

It’s in excellent used condition. Operationally and electronically perfect. Cosmetically excellent too. There are a few scratches on the top and sides from being rackmounted but the front panel is perfect apart from a couple of tiny blemishes. The membrane buttons are all good also. It has the original firmware (but you can upgrade on eBay for not too much). “This super hard to find, excellent condition AKAI S612 Rackmount Midi Digital Sampler Micro Studio System that I bought back in 1989. Includes original box and original manual. And, back then the shipper only accepted COD! I had this unit plus the MD280 disk drive (not included, but on eBay in its own auction) set-up in my studio and I used both exclusively for + 4-years. It’s super easy to use, in your studio, in your garage, or on stage to record live. The S612 was one of Akai’s first professional rack-mount samplers and it was first released in 1985.

I’ve tested the S612 and all functions work correctly. I plugged in and sampled my guitar (not included) in it, tested it with an AKAI MAX25 midi keyboard (not included). With the majority of its life in controlled climate storage and not moved around, it works great, it’s sold as-is, no guarantees, no returns.
