” For sale, my Akai S1000 digital MIDI sampler with the maximum 8 meg of memory giving you 95 seconds mono or 47 seconds stereo sampling. I’ve owned it since 1992 and for the past twenty years it’s been in storage. I unpacked it recently with a view to sell it but was dismayed when it wouldn’t turn on. However a little Googling revealed that the power supplies on these samplers are known to fail with age. So for the purposes of this auction I fitted it with a brand new power supply. The existing screen was OK but a little dim so while I was under the hood I also ordered and fitted a brand new screen. I was astonished that parts were so easy to find, I guess that’s a reflection of the units continued high regard as people service their old machines to keep them up to spec.
