” The Akai S01 is the simplest hardware sampler that Akai ever made. It came out around the time of the S3000, although there is nothing quite like it for simplicity or ease of use.

Perfect for anyone looking for a no-frills, hardware sampler with that legendary Akai sound quality.

The eight trigger buttons on the front correspond to each of the 8 samples, and are used to trigger them. The left/right, up/down matrix is extremely easy to use, and the value for each parameter is adjusted using the infinity data wheel. The value is displayed via a three-figure LED, which is working perfectly. You can probably figure out how to use the sampler just by looking at the photos.

You can truncate samples, transpose, loop, and even reverse them. The S01 features two MIDI inputs, which can be switched with a switch on the front panel. There’s one mono sample input, one mono output (front or back optional) and one headphone output on the front panel. Playback and sampling can be controlled with an additional foot-switch.

“I have for sale an Akai S01 sampler fully expanded with CF card reader. Tried & tested. I’ve also modified the power socket at the rear.

Obvious slight cosmetics scrapes and scratches but expected from such an old bit of kit. But functionally works fine.”
