MPC 5000

“Up for sale is a very clean Akai MPC5000 sampler. It is in pristine condition – see all pictures as I tried to photograph all that I could w/ebay’s photo limit. Buttons, pads, CF card reader work as they should. Custom dust cover included (see last pic.)

I am the second owner, and I bought it new / other earlier this year from a collector. It is evident that it did not see much use, as the plastic was still on the screen when it arrived… I have since taken it off.

Custom black paint job to all panels along with buttons (see pics for wear on buttons) plus a new set of black pads. Unit was cleaned inside and out and I replaced the original hard drive with a 250gb Western Digital 2.5 drive. This means that I also purchased and installed an IDE – SATA converter kit inside along with a 2.5 drive mount.

Sometimes (upon startup) the hard drive is not recognized. What I have done is just open the back, make sure all the connections are tight between drives and restart… works like a charm & recognizes.
*I have noticed that is when I have moved it from place to place.

There is a small crack on the upper right corner of the side panel. Judging by the crack, I’m assuming this was done when they originally tightened the corresponding screw. “This MPC 5000 comes from a smoke-free home studio and is in full working order. This is Version 2.00, max 192 Sample RAM, DVD/CD drive and has an internal 80GB hard drive. All pads, buttons, encoders and sliders function as they should. The screen is bright and has no dead pixels. I replaced the top of some encoders with the APC-40 style as they seem a bit more ‘solid’, I’ll include the originals. There is some signs of light surface wear and was covered when not being used, very clean. Also included are digital SPDI/F and ADAT lightpipe cables as well as 2 original E-MU sound disks. “I’ve owned several MPCs over the years and the 5000 is my favorite. The cycle sample feature, synth engine, and ability to sample the entire output mix (and resample it) take the 5000 to a whole new level. This one is all blacked out with custom thick pads, black buttons, and a black and white screen. Very cool vibes!
