I recently bought this unit and realized that certain pads don’t trigger, others trigger the wrong pad. I replaced the pad sensors and upgraded to glow in the dark fat pads, only to have the same problem at start up. I reinstalled the OS and the problem was solved! A few weeks later it started doing it again. Based on my experience I don’t think it is a hardware issue, it could be an easy fix but I would rather upgrade to a 1000 than keep trying to fix it. “Turns on, works with several issues affecting functionality. Still a powerful MIDI sequencer, though, Lots of salvageable parts.

Issues: battery power not working, noisy outputs, some pads and buttons require hard press, missing some screws (but still held together solid). Potentially other undiagnosed issues, but these are all I’ve encountered. Still a powerful MIDI sequencer, though, Lots of salvageable parts. Sold strictly as-is for parts or repair.

“This auction is for a used AKAI MPC 500 system. It has been upgraded with extra thick, dark blue pads. It also has black billet knobs, a new black jog wheel, black cursor buttons, a dark blue Q-Link slider, and has had the volume board and the control button board completely replaced with new ones.

There are some little white specks all over the chassis, but they aren’t particularly big (see photos). The unit is scratched and has a few of the hull screws that were lost. It has no issues with being solid, though. The biggest issue is that one clip for the RAM is broken, and sometimes the RAM will pop up during transport. This causes the unit to sometimes give an error. If you turn it on and it says something about a SODIMM issue, turn it off, open the battery cover, and make sure the RAM is locked in.

Other than the things mentioned above, it works great. I am including the wall adapter, 2GB Compact Flash memory card, and the upgraded 128MB of RAM. “ Click here to search for MPCs on eBay
