” Upgraded used Akai MPC 4000 that no longer boots, so I am selling it for parts so that someone with more time than me can get this up and running. The unit powers on but shows only a blank screen. My best guess is that the boot/OS flash memory got corrupted so it probably needs a replacement CPU board, which you can find if you search online.
This unit has 512MB RAM, the FX board, 8 1/4in Outs, and ADAT upgrade cards. If you get it up and running, you have a machine that can still hang with the new MPCs out there today and even outpace them in certain areas (I’m going to miss the ADAT out…)
Condition-wise, it isn’t the cleanest unit but it’s fine. It’s missing a few screws here and there (I bought it like that), but it’s solid and does the job when you’re mashing the pads or turning the knobs. All knobs, faders, pads, and buttons were fine until the unit stopped booting. The screen started to develop a few lines, but there is nothing that prevented someone from reading the screen and making music.
I had plans to install an SSD in it but never got around before the unit died, so I’m also including accessories so you can install a hot-swappable SSD internal drive: drive bracket, mounting tray, and IDE to SATA converter card. No SSD is included. I don’t remember if it has my old spinning HDD in there. Assume it doesn’t. No power cord is included, but your standard PC cord will work and is easily obtainable.” Click here to search for MPCs on eBay
