“Classic sampler. Rare SE3 Special Edition model. This one has upgrades like Compact Flash card reader, 8-output expansion, 32MB (max) memory. The note variation slider and data encoder potentiomter were replaced last week.

Unit tested and works well — every button clicks, every pad is responsive, screen easy to read, etc.

Cosmetically the case shows some wear and there’s a sticker on the bottom. Please check photos.

The 1st MPC I owned was a 2000 classic and I’ve owned 3 2000xl’s. As for hardware I own 2 Boss SP202s in which I’ve sold, 2 Roland MV8000s in which I almost sold my last one because I thought it was broken (thanks for not bidding, hard drive just needed the new update and disk protection turned off) and an ASR-X.

“Up for sale is a nice Akai MPC 2000XL MIDI Production Center. This Drum Machine is in good overall shape, with only some light wear on the outside in the form of scratches. No dents or water damage. Some small dust in between some of the keys/ knobs, but this can probably be cleaned. I don’t know too much about these machines but I plugged it in and tested that it powered on. The shift keys work to change the unit to different modes and the cursor works well. Data wheel moves freely and the pop up screen can be adjusted with ease. Only one cap on the unit is missing, the left side fader cap, which can probably be replaced for about $5. Left fader seems a bit loose, not sure if this is the design or because of the missing cap.

The unit has what looks to be a built in floppy drive port in the lower left corner, but I have not tested it with a floppy drive. This unit shows free memory of SND= 32620K, which leads me to believe that the unit has 32MB of memory. I believe this unit is in good working condition and has many years of life left in it to make music. Please see photos for a detailed idea of what the condition is. Sampler will include a power cord. Shipped with USPS Priority Mail. “MPC is functional, with the following issues:

1. Screen has 2 lines through it.
2. Pad Sensor was recently replaced and pad #6 occasionally triggers pad #5 when pushed hard and held (works fine when you strike the pad and get right off it. Works normal most of the time and improved after adjusting the ribbon cable under the hood.
3. Button ‘5’ and Buttons ‘Up’ and ‘Down’ do not respond as well as other buttons and sometimes take a hard press but every button does work.

Despite these issues, this is a good beat machine and is a workhorse. I upgraded to a MPC 2500 because I am used to the MPC 1000 and prefer the usb and the option of JJOS. ” Click here to search for MPCs on eBay
