“This unit was a centerpiece in my studio for long time. I had got it in fair condition and customized it all myself. Here’s what I did:
Installed the 8 outs board, the fx rom and the rare 8mb flash rom. Some of the pads were iffy so I added a brand new pad sensors sheet from mpcstuff and thick gray pads. The data knob is off an akai dps16 so it’s solid black not painted. The white buttons are mpcstuffs and the blue buttons are painted the same blue satin as the front panel piece. The top of the machine is just a vinyl skin rendition of R2D2 and the sides are painted semi gloss white. The screen is flawless and all the midi scsi connections work. Instead of the floppy drive I’ve installed a USB floppy emulator which can be tricky using the software on a newer computer to format or read each partition on a memory stick. Personally I kept an old laptop with Windows XP on it solely for that purpose. The only part of the machine I didn’t tackle is the note variation slider. It DOES NOT work but I will include the replacement part which O bought new. ” This is an AKAI MPC 4000 which i’ve used over the years. The Machine is LOADED with sounds. There is 2 thin lines going through the monitor, which i’ve heard is a quick fix. The machine works very well. Did a custom faceplate that was painted a dark purple. It’s nice but i would recommend getting an original face plate if you want the exact look and titles. As Is. The unit works Perfectly. All midi and sound ports work perfectly. I added the max memory and had the hard drive upgraded years back from the mpc shop in pasadena, which is very well known. Custom blue lights light up the board instead of the traditional green. Although the machine has those two lines going through the monitor, it never effected my work flow, i just never took the time to go into the machine and try to clean the cable, etc. I’ve invested thousands of dollars of time and money into loading her with a lot of drum kits over a good 5 year time span. And you’re getting it FREE in this AKAI Classic. Out of 5 pieces of AKAI sequencers i’ve had over the years, this is by far my favorite,the smooth warm sound is still incredible and my board is running all sounds at high 48khz quality, and almost all sounds loaded are high quality wav files, A Personal collection purchasing different drum kits all over the web. This is my reasoning for the price. Put a hundred or 2 into the monitor, and now you have an awesome mpc loaded with sounds at a fraction of a typical auction. Just plug and play ready to go. Controls with pro tools and other midi based software great. ”

“I believe this to be a Forat modified MPC3000. While I can’t ask the original owner if this is true it has the look of his work. Very professional. Custom wood sides. Internal scsi, zip100 Drive. External ide port. 32 megs of Ram. 8outs, black pads. Around $1300+ of modifications alone. I removed the original owners custom logo because it was no longer his. It left a slight shine to the powder coating. You can see where the logo used to be above the display of you look at it at just the right angle. But otherwise it’s not noticeable. It never bothered me. Everything works great. Beast of a sampler!!”

“Up for sale is my custom Bruce Forat modded Akai Mpc 3000. Bruce updated to the best software (3.5Vailixi)and cleaned all the pots and sliders. It has a brand new internal screen and custom Chrome Face plate which is 700 upgrade which makes it look wild. The only problem with chrome is it shows smudges and scratches. Wood front and side panels are maple. Only a little chunk got knocked out of the one side of the wood panels see in pic. The unit is used so it does have scratches and is not mint but nothing major is wrong. Brand new Fat pads w/sensors and a brand new spare white pads set if you want to swap them around.
