Akai S950 with 2.25MB RAM

“INCLUDES EARS FOR RACKMOUNT AS ORIGINALLY FITTED.

I bought this from Nick Coler, who was using it with the KLF. (See here: https://www.discogs.com/artist/118842-Nick-Coler?type=Credits&subtype=Production&filter_anv=0) He upgraded to an S1000 for its improved stereo functionality far as I can recall and sold the s950 to me, circa 1991 I guess. This is true. For real.

I upgraded the S950’s memory twice to the maximum 2.25MB and used it in my home studio until 1996 when I realised I had neither the time nor talent to do this stuff and I sold off some of the studio gear a few years later. I kept the S950 because it was so nice. It has not been used since then, but I am moving house and have decided to move stuff on. I’ve tested it and it still works. Good old Akai, makers of brilliant and reliable gear. This has never been gigged. But it has been loved and blessed.

There are a few rack marks on top and the big knob (ooh) has a couple of marks on it. Otherwise it is the same handsome and functional piece of sound kit it has always been.

I will throw in TWENTY SIX sound sample library floppy disks with it. Lots of electro drums, percussion, electric pianos etc. No idea if they all still work but I tried one and it did.

Using this made me feel like I was DJ Mark The 45 King or Prince Paul. I definitely was not. But maybe you are.

Proper 80s-90s sound. Seriously

Delivery only to mainland UK. It’s UK voltage, people. Or you can collect from Loughton, Essex, which is inside the M25 near London, and on the Tube, but not inside the London emission charging zone.” Click here to visit listing on eBay
