Akai MPC 3000 with 32MB RAM, Internal Card Reader

“MPC 3000 with a compact flash card reader and Mansell-Labs Vailixi EPROMs installed. When I picked this up about 10 years ago I did a fair bit of work on it to get in back in good shape. The backlight, pad-sensors, pads, data encoder and all the under button tact switches were replaced. Gave it a thorough clean up inside, and also installed the internal compact flash card reader via SCSI, maxed out RAM and Vailixi EPROMs. It has only seen light use since then in a non-smoking studio. For the last 5-6 years it has been packed away carefully in a box as I have been living abroad. I have fired it up to test it before listing it here and it all works great.

The one thing to note, that I didn’t replace when refurbishing this, is the plastic data wheel. This part is readily available online for about £15 should you want to replace it. It works fine as it is though. The inside latching of it that attaches to the encoder is a little worn, so currently has a little adhesive putty wedged inside it to keep it tight and working like a brand new one would. This is a very small thing but want to provide you with a transparent description of this to avoid any disappointment. Like I said, it works as it should do as is. It’s cheap fix for anyone who feels the need to replace it anyway. It just slides on top, there would be no need to even open up the MPC to replace this part.

I have a box of spares from when this was refurbished that I’ll include with it. It contains various spare buttons and the original flopping drive that was removed to make room for the compact flash card reader – see pictures.

A dust cover and the original manual are also supplied.” Click here to visit listing on eBay
