“I’ve owned this MPC 2000XL for a year, purchased from a close friend who never used it so it is in MINT CONDITION. There are no blemishes, dents, scratches, or stains. I recently bought this unit and realized that certain pads don’t trigger, others trigger the wrong pad. I replaced the pad sensors and upgraded to glow in the dark fat pads, only to have the same problem at start up. I reinstalled the OS and the problem was solved! A few weeks later it started doing it again. Based on my experience I don’t think it is a hardware issue, it could be an easy fix but I would rather upgrade to a 1000 than keep trying to fix it. This is the last of the ‘great’ MPC’s, probably most popularly used by Kanye West and Pete Rock.
I used this sampler for several years as my main beat making tool before switching over to a Native Instruments Maschine / Laptop setup. It’s basically been sitting in a box for 5-6 years, and sat in my studio mostly turned off for a few years prior to that.
