Ok, so I powered this up to sell and it powers no problem and it samples, however the disc drive does not work so you cannot save your samples – a quick ebay search revealed you can pick up a disc drive for around 5-10quid – there’s an ‘F’ (fault) message when you try to access the drive, and it also means you cannot format a disc. Bit above me I’m afraid, but sure there are plenty of tech people out there who can fix it no problem.

I recently bought this unit and realized that certain pads don’t trigger, others trigger the wrong pad. I replaced the pad sensors and upgraded to glow in the dark fat pads, only to have the same problem at start up. I reinstalled the OS and the problem was solved! A few weeks later it started doing it again. Based on my experience I don’t think it is a hardware issue, it could be an easy fix but I would rather upgrade to a 1000 than keep trying to fix it. “Akai MPC 1000 sampler. Comes with expanded 128mb ram, 2Gb CF full of samples (including Samples from Mars library) and the latest free JJ OS installed and mains lead. Unfortunately I haven’t got the box nor the manual.
All the tactile swiches has been replaced a month ago, I installed new side panels and display window from Mpcstuff. I also repainted the front cover as the original paint had a few scratches. You can see that it’s painted as I covered all the writings with masking tape so please check the images and zoom in!
