I worked in a well-lit room and never had any issue with the lack of backlight. Rack ears are supplied but I have mislaid the screws. ” Selling my trusty old Akai S950 – still a great sounding sampler – fully operational – and the back lit LED isn’t in too bad shape either (as shown in picture) couple of scratches as shown – but not visible when rack mounted.. which BTW it still has the original rack ears.
Have found a set of original Akai Library disks which I think came from the S1000 library.. still lets you load the samples into the 950.

“Now, this sampler sounds AMAZING! Make no dough about the power of this 12 Bit wonder.

It is fully upgraded memory wise, however, I cant remember exactly what that means. Its not a lot, but what it does offer is brilliant!

I have compared this to bit crusher Plug ins and the like, but it sounds so much better. Only selling it because, sadly, I have to downgrade my studio for space and this bad-boy is both big and heavy!

The Rec/Trig playback input is broken, however, I have no idea what this does anyway so never missed it. The mic and line in are also a little out of place, but work fine. It’s also a little grubby, but nothing that cannot be cleaned up.
