” Akai MPC 1000 – classic compact Standalone MPC, as new, with box and all accessories. Almost completely unused. Upgraded with 80GB IDE hard drive, 128MB RAM and JJ OS.
I’m sure you know the MPC1000 – a standalone MPC with a pile of individual outputs, two sets of MIDI I/O, coax SP-DIF I/O, built-in FX, the ability to read/write samples and programs to Compact Flash, internal hard drive, USB, etc, etc.
I bought this MPC1000 new perhaps three years ago. I felt the need to get one before they became completely unavailable, so this has to be one of the last production units made. I’d always intended to use it as a drum machine for songwriting, but life got in the way, so it has sat in a padded flight case in a cupboard pretty much since the day I purchased it!
As soon as I received it I installed an 80GB hard drive, upgraded the RAM to the full 128MB, and put the free version of JJ OS on it. I spent an afternoon doing a guide drum part for a demo I was producing, then put it away so that it didn’t get dirty. For all the classic reasons (mostly a bunch of seemingly more urgent things to do) it never made it out of it’s case again.
Yes I feel pretty stupid, and I’ve finally admitted to myself that it deserves to be owned by someone who will use it more.
There are no signs of use whatsoever – there honestly is not a scratch or a dirty mark on it, and it still has the protective film on the display. The unit is 100% working of course.” Click here to search for MPCs on eBay
