“The F2, F5, Mode(broken button), and arrow keys ARE hard to press. It’s been a while since I’ve fired it up, but everything else is functioning properly. I’m not sure if the tact buttons are worn out, but if that’s the case, I’ve soldered on new ones several years ago and believe it is an inexpensive fix. The ram and OS were the only thing upgraded. I have a power cord and 4GB CF flash card included. I am also including the M-Audio, M-Track 2X2 and a pair of AKG K92’s. I used these for a day and they have been in the closet ever since.”

One of the side panels doesn’t sit as snug as the other to the chassis- although it is completely secured. The shift button needs to be held down firmly at times to function correctly. This unit has been used in my studio for about 3 years and I am the 2nd owner. Non-smoking climate controlled studio. RAM is fully maxed out at 128 meg and the HD is 120 gig. It doesn’t sound like a lot of RAM, but it’s plenty. It’s mostly used for storing samples for playing (mostly), so it is isn’t the same as a laptop that needs 8 gigs of ram.

This MPC has the JJOS on it, which adds the following functionality to the MPC:

Resonant filters
ADSR for sound and/or filter modulation
LFO for modulating filters, pan, efx
Instrument mode
Main Stereo Bus Effects
Many other amazing workflow improvements

“Originally purchased new from Digital Village to use as a drum machine for an acoustic duo project that never happened, this unit has never been used other than an initial exploration of features and sounds. I didn’t keep the carton it came in because I was expecting to keep it. Yes you will eventually upgrade the software and hard drive – or not – and I checked the pad sensors as per the test and they appear to be the modified version. Akai had issues with a batch with failing pad sensors.”
