“This is a vintage Akai S900 Professional MIDI Digital Sampler. This is an 80s vintage 12-bit sampler packing into a 23-pound case with all the vintage flair you can think of. This is the second and last unit I have, this unit is a v1.2 unit with a different style power-cord in the back. The power connector jack on the back is cracked at the top but does not pose any problems with inserting or removing the power cord.
The unit is in good physical condition with scuffs, scratches, marks and wear from use, age, storage, etc. I plugged it in and it powered on fine, the display works and is readable, although with no backlight you need to look directly at it to read it, if there was a backlight it’s no longer working. Pressing the buttons and controls on the unit I was able to move through various menus and screens with no issues. I don’t have the skills or equipment to test the item, it’s sold as-is-as-described. I tried to format a blank floppy and save to it but the unit complained that the disk was unprepared or there was a floppy error. Given this is vintage gear, it may need some refurbishing or modernization. It seems there are many upgrades out there for these units (screen, USB drives, etc) so this may make a good upgrade candidate.” Click here to search for MPCs on eBay
